Continuing Training for Psycho-social Court Assistants

Court assistance in the case of "online hate"

On behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice and in cooperation with ZARA - Civil Courage and Anti-Racism Work, ZARA Training and the lawyer Franz Galla, MZ.O offers a training seminar on the topic of court assistance in cases of "online hate"

The aim of the course is to prepare psychosocial court assistants for cases of court assistance in the context of the Austrian Act on Combating Hate Speech Online [Hass-im-Netz-Bekämpfungs-Gesetz/HiNBG]. The course will give an introduction to the legal bases (HiNBG, Austrian Media Act [Mediengesetz/MedienG]), explain the offences of "online hate" (sedition, cyberbullying, defamation, etc.) and raise awareness for special needs when working with victims of discrimination/hate crimes. Practical tips for digital civil courage, such as information on preservation of evidence, reporting possiblities and support offers, will be discussed as well.
The seminar is held in the form of a webinar via Zoom on four half days, each from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In 2021 und 2022, altogether five webinars took place.
